If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. [2 Chronicles 7:14]

On April 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln stated in his Proclamation for a National Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer:

"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness."

But that was America of the nineteenth century. What has that to do with us now, in America of the twenty-first century? DUH!

Do You Know The Preamble For Your State?
Food For Thought

Of a truth, I do not consider myself a highly educated man. I am certainly not what most would call an intelectual, nor am I a "worldly" scholar. I am not a politician nor a lawyer nor am I an economist, and I know very little about the technological or scientific theories of our day. I make no claims of "worldly wisdom" of any sort. However, even the slightest bit of "common sense" should surely reveal to one that something's gone wrong in this great nation of ours.

Although I am not what the world may consider wise, I am a man of God and, as such, give my counsel as to where we've gone wrong. Oh, I know there are those who are squirmish about preachers giving their oppinions about anything, especially when it comes to current events. Yet these same people give ear to the oppinions from every other source. One thing about being an American citizen though, is that we all have a right to express our oppinions. One of our patriots once said something like, "I may not agree with what you say, but I am willing to fight to the death for your right to say it." That is still the case here, isn't it?

Now, I must begin by saying that the Word of God (the same old Bible our forefathers and grandparents read and believed) is not to be construed as any one's oppinion, but is, in fact, unchanging Truth. Psalm 9:17 says,"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." It would seem that America is trying real hard to forget God. We cannot point fingers here, or cast blame upon any others than ourselves (each one of us). After all, we are a nation of the people, by the people and for the people; right? Let's not even presume to cop-out, each one of us has a voice in this great country; don't we? Just consider well what I am about say, think about it and pray about it. I pray that the Lord will give you understanding in all things. America has forsaken her God and therefore God must deal with America as He has dealt with all other nations before her.

In Simple Terms What America Needs Is
"To Return To The God Of Our Fathers! "

Prayer is the Best Gift You Can Give

Prayer for others is a generous act. It sweeps away bitterness and heals
old wounds. Prayer leads to greater humility and a more grateful spirit.
It strengthens our commitment to things that last and things that matter.
It deepens our love for one another.
